PFP Looks Forward to Small Press Expo 2006
Houston, TX–July 27, 2006–Penny-Farthing Press (PFP) recently announced their plans for special booth events at SPX 2006 in Bethesda, Maryland. Along with exclusive specials, PFP will debut two graphic novels and offer a preview of a new historical adventure graphic novel series. Fans will have an opportunity to review and purchase these items several months before they will be available in stores.
“Penny-Farthing Press is very excited to be attending SPX for the first time and looks forward to meeting fans and fellow small-press publishers,” states PFP Editor-in-Chief, Marlaine Maddux. “With the expanding popularity of graphic novels, SPX is the perfect venue for us to display our books.”
All SPX attendees will be able to stock up on Penny-Farthing Press merchandise at reduced prices. Children’s books and select graphic novels will be sold for ten dollars each. Retailers will be able to receive additional discounts by enrolling in PFP’s Direct-Order-Retailer (D-O-R) Program at the expo and will be able to save up to fifty percent on bulk orders.
Debuting at the show will be The Victorian Act IV: Self-Overcoming and The Victorian ACT V: Self-Exsoulment graphic novels. Stuart Moore’s PARA graphic novel and Captain Gravity and The Power of the Vril graphic novel, will be showcased as well as the Anne Steelyard: The Garden of Emptiness preview. Bestselling author Barbara Hambly (The Emancipator’s Wife, the Benjamin January mysteries) and breakout artist Alex Kosakowski, have both recently signed to work on PFP’s upcoming Anne Steelyard graphic novel series. It is a historical and mystical adventure following the struggles of a female archaeologist in pre-World War I Mesopotamia.
Also new will be the Decoy: Menagerie, Part 2 anthology, the follow-up to the popular 2005 installment. Fans and retailers will be able to purchase these titles at the convention even before the books will be solicited though major book distributors. They will also be able to meet the creative talent face-to-face.
Founded in 1998 by Publisher, Ken White and Editor-In-Chief, Marlaine Maddux, Penny-Farthing Press employs both veteran and new talent in production of the company’s publication line; a line which has received numerous awards and critical accolades in PFP’s short existence. The prestigious Spectrum Award and the Gutenburg Metal D’Argent for Excellence in Printing are two examples. Furthermore, Penny-Farthing Press only publishes a limited number of titles per year in order to insure quality and a grass roots connection with its readers all over the world. This “boutique” approach is unique in the industry and allows only the finest products to leave PFP’s doors. The company is headquartered in Houston, Texas.
